Farewell

It saddens me to say that my last day at Mary Immaculate School will be on Friday, November 3rd, 2017. The last four years have been such a blessing and will be some of my most treasured years. It has brought me such joy to have been part of the Mary Immaculate School community. I have always wanted to work in a school and be able to help kids in times of need, inspire them to do their very best, and encourage them to reach out by trying new things. I looked forward to waking up each and every day to greet students as they bring down their classroom attendance and hear the stories they had to share from the night before or what they might be doing for the upcoming weekend. I loved any excuse to get up from my desk and return something to a classroom just so that I could engage with the students and praise them for the wonderful work they were doing. This may sound bias as this is the only school I have worked in, but I do believe we have some of the best well-mannered and talented students in our school who are going to go on and achieve great things. I could go on and on about all the reasons why I love my job and the students at this school, but I am sure as their guardian you are well aware how wonderful they are!

This position has taught me so much and it has helped shape the person I am today. For that I am very thankful. We strive to bring out the best in our students, but it turns out they did the same for me. I promise to come back and visit, as well as do whatever I can to continue to help Mary Immaculate School run successfully. Who knows maybe one day I will find myself working back in a school, but for now my life has other plans for me within a different community.

I wish you all the best for the remainder of this school year and many years to come. I hope that each and every one of you go on to achieve great things throughout your life.

Sincerely,

Miss Lacey Campbell

Welcome to our school.  Mary Immaculate School is located in the friendly hamlet of Chepstow, Ontario. This is a family oriented farming community situated along the Teeswater River near Walkerton, Ontario.

We are a junior kindergarten through grade 8 school. There are approximately 118 students in 7 classrooms. The school has many unique features. These include a large (recently renovated) gym open to the community, a current, well equipped library and computer lab and a literacy/reading recovery room. We also have a climbing playset on the large playing field adjacent to our school.

On five mornings a week we run a Breakfast for Learning Program which offers our students nutritious food upon arrival at school . We are grateful for this wonderful program funded through the contributions of our parents, staff and local community, and staffed by parent volunteers.

We are proud hosts of the local Early Years program. This program offers Playgroup (storytelling, language games, a lending library of games, books, videos, toys, educational programs and cultural events) on a weekly basis (Wednesdays) to pre-school children. Playgroup is a year round activity.

We are also proud to host a variety of family reading and literacy nights throughout the school year.

Father Luc Payette, the pastor of neighbouring Mary Immaculate Church, complements our religious education program by visiting our school on a regular basis and providing students with spiritual guidance
