Vaccine Clinics

Grey-Bruce Public Health are organizing clinics to provide first or second doses to students and these vaccinations would require the consent of parents/guardians. At this time, the day/time/location of these clinics has not been organized. Clinics will be organized pending the response from families to this communication.

Consent
Students aged 5 to 11 require parental or guardian consent in order to participate in a vaccine clinic that would operate during the school day, potentially without parents present. No child aged 5-11 will be vaccinated in a school day clinic without parental consent.

It is important to note that participation in school-based clinics is voluntary.

Please read, sign and return the consent form to have your child participate in an upcoming vaccine clinic, and return it to school by Wednesday, February 9, 2022.

Completed consent forms will be shared with our local health unit and pending interest Grey-Bruce Public Health will be in contact with you about information related to the location and time of a vaccination clinic.

Filling out the consent form does not guarantee that a clinic will be held at your school.

If your child is already scheduled to receive a vaccine within the next 1-2 weeks, that appointment should be honoured. Please have your child attend their pre-booked vaccine appointment, or continue to visit this site for further information on how you can book appointments at vaccination clinics and pharmacies in your community.

Preparing Your Child for Vaccination
We understand you or your child may have questions about the vaccine. Please speak to your child about why people get vaccinated against COVID-19. If your child has a fear of vaccination, please visit your local Public Health Unit for additional resources.

If you have questions about COVID-19 vaccines for children and youth please visit Vaccine Information Sheet for Children for further information or COVID-19 Vaccine Consult Service to book a confidential phone appointment with a SickKids clinician.

If you wish for your child to receive a vaccination, please return the consent form to your Catholic School Principal. The signed consents will be forwarded to GBPH and they will inform you as to the date/time/location of the clinic. If you have any questions regarding this initiative, we encourage you to reach out to GBPH.

Sincerely,
Gary O’Donnell
